Lure of the Red Planet: Comparing This World and the Next
Florida Space Science Education Package - Grades 5-7

NOW AVAILABLE!

4Frontiers is now offering for purchase, “Lure of the Red Planet: Comparing this World and the Next,” a new supplemental space science curriculum package for grades 5-7.

This comprehensive two-week curriculum is correlated with the new Sunshine State Standards and provides students with an opportunity to learn science concepts while exploring careers in high-demand technology and science fields. Using Mars exploration and settlement as the theme, the curriculum helps students better understand the nature of science and allows them to practice scientific thinking skills, addressing an area in which students often score poorly in the science FCAT.

The computer DVD based package includes over 1,700 pages of background material and activities, with subject matter organized and easily accessible through an included browser navigation system. Three career video segments featuring leading Mars researchers and two illustrated short stories with science side-bar content are also integrated into the package.

Set in the context of solar system exploration, this package includes an unprecedented perspective of Mars exploration and future settlement, provided by 4Frontiers’ technical and social science experts. Several science supervisors actively participated in package development and aided in tailoring the package to meet the unique needs of grade schools within the state of Florida.

"Since, in the long run, every planetary civilization will be endangered by impacts from space, every surviving civilization is obliged to become spacefaring--not because of exploratory or romantic zeal, but for the most practical reason imaginable: staying alive... If our long-term survival is at stake, we have a basic responsibility to our species to venture to other worlds." - Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot, 1994
